Having a baby is supposed to be a joyful experience. But our joy quickly turned to fear after our daughter was born. Shortly after her birth, we learned that Anna had cystic fibrosis. She was also diagnosed with short bowel syndrome. That mean she spent a long time in the hospital. When they discharged her, Anna was still getting her food through an I.V. line that went through her chest into her heart. The thought of taking her home was terrifying. All I could think of was what could go wrong. Fortunately, we were able to turn to Ashley House. Anna stayed there for a few weeks, getting professional, high quality care, while we learned more about caring for her. We felt safe and ready when it was finally time to take her home!”
Gilbert was just 11 months old when he came to Ashley House. Doctors
said his life would be short and painful. But from the start, Gilbert was a
fighter—and set out to prove them wrong.
Last spring, Gilbert graduated from high school. He continues to surprise
everyone by surpassing expectations! Way to go Gilbert!
“Whenever we think of Ashley House, we think of a place of love, joy and family. We are eternally grateful for the care that Ashley House gave to our little sister Bryn Lauren Bonney, as well as our entire family.
Ashley House was the one place our family could all easily be together, enjoy each other’s company and celebrate many milestones together with our sister, Bryn. It was a place of unconditional love for Bryn, and our family.
We remember our sister Bryn Lauren’s life not for the challenges that she faced in her short time on earth, but for her strength, her courage and her spirit. She taught us so many life lessons. Her spirit lives on in each of us, as well as at Ashley House.
Thank you for caring for all of the children and their families each and every day at Ashley House. Thank you for being a part of our lives and our hearts. Ashley House is an incredibly special place and we feel blessed that Bryn was able to live there with the loving hearts and generous care that she received."
With Great Love,
