Volunteer with

Ashley House

Ashley House is a 501(c)3 charitable organization whose sole purpose is to serve children and families of children with special health care needs. Our volunteers are an important part of Ashley House and help to enhance the care of the children and families we serve.

Children receive nursing care from our highly skilled staff of dedicated and loyal Licensed Nurses, CNA’s, and Behavior Technicians. Ashley House staff provide all direct care while integrating growth, development and socialization into daily activities. While volunteers do not provide direct care to the children, they can help in so many other ways.

  • Groups of volunteers (such as youth groups), as well as individual volunteers, have taken on projects such as yard cleanup, vehicle detailing and window washing. This is a great option for volunteers with limited availability or who wish to put a group project together.

  • Special events, such as fundraisers, holiday celebrations or birthday celebrations are enjoyed immensely by the children and staff of Ashley House. Volunteers can provide assistance with planning, decorating, food and gifts. For example, a local motorcycle group delivers gifts for all of the Ashley House children right before Christmas on their motorcycles.

  • Help with clerical tasks such as filing, copying and mailings is always welcome.

  • Assistance with coordinating the volunteer efforts at all five Ashley House locations is always needed. This is a great opportunity for a person with management experience to put those skills to use in a volunteer capacity.

  • At times, volunteers are interested in making a long term commitment to one or more children who reside at Ashley House. The volunteer develops a relationship with the children by consistency and reliability. These volunteers will often help with homework, read stories, visit the children in the event they are hospitalized and attend important events, such as birthday parties. Volunteers that serve in this capacity must undergo the State background authorization process, provide proof of negative TB screening, and attend a volunteer orientation.

Volunteer Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years or older. Volunteers younger than 18 must be supervised by a guardian while volunteering.

  • Complete a volunteer application.

  • Sign an agreement to abide by HIPAA practices.

  • Volunteers must pass a background check.
